Moving Meditation I

Most of us have heard about the benefits of meditation: relaxation, emotional release, inner peace etc. Some may even have tried doing meditation with a audio CD or DVD. In most people’s mind, meditation involves sitting at a half lotus posture, follow some breathing and mantra and try to quiet the mind. But for the majority, as soon as they close their eyes, random thoughts start to kick in: “What to do next?” “I forgot to pick up the laundry!” “Where did I put my purse?” In about five minutes, the hip or legs start to hurt and then the mind starts to ask, “Are we going to finish soon?”

In fact, sitting still meditation is actually a higher level of meditation. The mind is like a wild horse, it is quite challenging for a beginner to tame the wild horse while he/she is not even able to ride a well-trained horse yet!

I personally highly recommend learning and mastering moving meditation prior to progressing into sitting meditation. Moving Meditation mostly involves movement, breathing and controlling the mind all together. The simplest way to do it is just focusing on a body part, slowly move that body part, breath and relax. For example, we always do shoulder rotation as a warm up exercise for our muscle. Most of the time, we just rotate the shoulders without even paying attention to them. You may try, which I call, shoulder rotation meditation. Close your eyes, focus on your shoulders, breath out gently when you rotate your shoulders, imagine all the tension is melting away to the surroundings, just like melting a butter. If you may let your mind stay still for that 1 or 2 minute, you will feel refreshed and your shoulders will feel very good too. You can continue to do the same for your other joints: neck, wrist, elbow, waist, hip, knees,and ankles.

When you can master that, you may then start to progress to learn energy meditation such as Tai Chi, Qigong/Chikung, Dahn Mu etc.

Yoga Breathing Therapy

A Yoga Breath Therapist walked in to our center today and asked if there was opportunity for collaboration. Actually we include yoga breathing therapy in each of our class. We also offer that in the private sessions for our members.

Yoga breathing therapy is in fact very effective in helping individuals to release emotions that were hidden in their bodies. When a person encounters emotional trauma such as loss of loved ones, betrayal, divorce, emotions usually stick in the body when they were not dealt with right after the events. These emotions usually affected the 4th chakra at the chest area or 3rd chakra at the upper abdomen area. With energy imbalance, diseases such as depression, anxiety, high blood pressure emerge. Through yoga breathing therapy and other techniques such as acupressure, energy healing and visualization, these emotions could be released and the individual could feel more balance and normal.

Acupressure for Natural Healing

Acupressure (sometimes written as “accupressure”) is a technique related to acupuncture, where the energies of the body are regulated by manipulating points on the body. Acupressure and Acupuncture promotes natural healing. It can enhance immunity, support physical and emotional health, and improve overall health function and well being. It is a safe and effective way to treat a wide variety of medical problems.

During an acupressure session, the therapist will find out if there is any blockage of energy in the body. These blockages are usually caused by emotion, bad postures or other toxins generated by the body. For example, a lot of people complain about inflexibility on hamstring or calves area. In a lot of cases, their urinary and kidney meridian or energy channels are blocked.

In Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi in Metuchen NJ, our energy trainers will guide individuals to open their energy blockage through stretching, energy training and breathing. Combined with energy healing and acupressure sessions, these blockages will open and one could restore natural energy balance to achieve physical and mental health.

Healing Chakras Workshop

We have been doing Chakra vibration training in the past three weeks in preparation of the Healing Chakras Workshop last Sunday.  About 100 people attended the workshop and six were from our center.  They all enjoyed the deep connection within themselves and strong energy sensation in the workshop.  A few of them were practitioners of other disciplines and they were all amazed by the quick transformation of their body and spirit in the short period of time.

Chakras are the energy centers in our body.  Each chakra governs a specific kind of energy related to various human attributes, from the most primal to the most spiritual. When all seven chakras are functioning well, we are healthy in body,  mind and spirit.

For those who are unfamiliar with the chakra system, it may seem rather esoteric and mystical. In reality, chakras are a natural aspect of human life, and they affect our lives whether we choose to acknowledge them or not. If you are struggling in a particular area, you will find a chakra that related to that problem. By actively working to heal the chakra, you can address your personal issues on an energetic level and gain insight into your struggles. In addition, you will be able to strengthen areas in which you already excel.

Unlike other yoga/healing establishment, we do not just meditate on our chakras in our center. We do active physical exercises to activate the chakras. Then we open them through vibration exercises. They are actually fun to do and could be incorporated in our regular classes.   A lot of members experienced strong movement and deep healing in their chakras just within 20-30 minutes.

Healing Chakras

Okum Healing Workshops Feb 18&20

We had a great turnout for the Okum Healing Workshops on both days. A total of about 50 people joined the training. We learnt about the emotional, environmental factors of modern diseases. We also learnt and experienced using Okum healing cards and Mago Healing stones in our partner exercises. Some members shared their experience of  deep connection with their energy. They also felt the strong utility of these healing tools. And certainly we had a GREAT time! Thanks to the awesome trainer, Master Gold Mountain!

Healing for Optimal Health Workshop Jan 12 2010

We always hold complimentary workshops and trainings to our member to enhance their practice. Last month, we held a Healing Workshop for our members to experience energy healing through partner exercise. They firstly warmed up their body through various stretching exercises. Then they senses energy with their partner and progressed to energy healing the abdominal areas.  We have our vital organs in our abdominal areas which also housed our second Chakra – our Dahnjon( or Dandian in Chinese).  Most of our members felt asleep during the healing. Some even recovered from their stomachache and shoulder pain which they had before the session. Here are some pictures.

Holiday Open Tai Chi Classes on Dec 20 and 27 2009

Holiday Tai Chi Open ClassesOur studio will offer two FREE Holiday Open Tai Chi Classes on Sundays on Dec 20 and 27 from 8:30 to 9:30am.  A lot of people get stressed out during the holiday seasons.
