Yoga Breathing Therapy

A Yoga Breath Therapist walked in to our center today and asked if there was opportunity for collaboration. Actually we include yoga breathing therapy in each of our class. We also offer that in the private sessions for our members.

Yoga breathing therapy is in fact very effective in helping individuals to release emotions that were hidden in their bodies. When a person encounters emotional trauma such as loss of loved ones, betrayal, divorce, emotions usually stick in the body when they were not dealt with right after the events. These emotions usually affected the 4th chakra at the chest area or 3rd chakra at the upper abdomen area. With energy imbalance, diseases such as depression, anxiety, high blood pressure emerge. Through yoga breathing therapy and other techniques such as acupressure, energy healing and visualization, these emotions could be released and the individual could feel more balance and normal.

Healing for Optimal Health Workshop Jan 12 2010

We always hold complimentary workshops and trainings to our member to enhance their practice. Last month, we held a Healing Workshop for our members to experience energy healing through partner exercise. They firstly warmed up their body through various stretching exercises. Then they senses energy with their partner and progressed to energy healing the abdominal areas.  We have our vital organs in our abdominal areas which also housed our second Chakra – our Dahnjon( or Dandian in Chinese).  Most of our members felt asleep during the healing. Some even recovered from their stomachache and shoulder pain which they had before the session. Here are some pictures.

Breathing for Healing Workshop

We had a breathing for Healing workshop a few weeks ago. About 15 students attended.  We usually only can spend 15 mintues in regular class for breathing exercise. It usually effectively helps our students to relax and accumulate energy. However, it may not be long enough to reach healing effect.  At the workshop, we practised chest breathing for almost 40 mintues. We discussed about why sometime we breath out our mouth, and sometime breath out through our nose.   Usually I will ask new student of those who have a very tight chest to firstly breath out through their mouth. Otherwise they might feel dizzy as they could not breath very well.   In the workshop, we also practiced chest opening exercises before we do the breathing.  Most students found it interesting that they felt freezing on their fingers and bodies after the exercise. In fact, a lot of stagnant energy came out in the form of “cold air”. That is why they felt coldness.  Healing starts to occur when these stagnant energy leave and refreshed with new energy.

Energy Training and Energy Healing

A lot of visitors came in and asked about our Tai Chi classes. Most of them have practiced Tai Chi before. But when I asked them if they felt energy on the hands when they practiced Tai Chi, most of them said no. They said that they had not reached that level in the practice. In fact, most of my students felt energy on their palms in their first holistic yoga or Tai Chi class. There is nothing mysterious about feeling energy. In a simple scientific sense, we all have a bioelectric field around us. Our brain communicates various signals to our body in  the form of bioelectricity. We however focused most of our time looking outside with our five senses. That is why we do not feel our energy. Our yoga classes focus on “rewiring our hardware” – body, by deep stretching. We can then feel energy in our palms naturally. By doing this type of energy training, our mind naturally calms down. Energy connects our body and mind. By focusing our energy, we also can have a better sense of our body. Usually we will feel coldness in those areas of our body that had blockages or weak. Energy healing then can take place by harmonizing those energy field.

Holistic Yoga To Relieve Stress

We practice holistic yoga in our Body&Brain Center in Metuchen, Central NJ.  It focuses on Meridian Stretching.   Based on Oriental Medicine Principles, we have 12 meridians running through our body.    When our meridians are blocked due to imbalance in our body and mind, we gradually  lose the optimal health condition. Eventually it will become a disease.  Accupunture and Accupressure open up these blockages through needles or pressure.  We may also open up these Meridian Channels through stretching with coordinated breathing and conciousness.   The first 30-35 minutes of our holistic yoga classes will focus on meridian stretching. This is to “rewire the hardware” of our body if you will.

After the meridian exercise, our body will then be ready to relax and accumlate energy through breathing exercise.  For most of our beginner students, we focus to let them relax and release tension.  Most people come in with tight shoulders and tension in the upper body.  Through concious breathing, they will gradually release these tension.    With that they are ready to accumulate energy into their core.   This will take about 15 minutes

We will  aslo do Brain Wave Vibration and Energy Meditation in our holistic yoga class. Both of these exercises are like moving meditation.  Most people have heard of  STILL mediation where practioners sit still to focus and tame their thoughts. However, our thoughts are like wild monkeys which jump here and there VERY fast.    It is extremely difficult for ordinary people to do still meditation. They will think about their kids’ after class schedule, their laundry or other things.  When we move our body, focus on my own vibration or energy, our mind stays here and now – that is MEDIDATION.  In effect, our brain wave is normalised so that we could feel refreshed and focus.
